When applying for a home loan, one of the first things a lender will check is your credit score. A low score indicates that you might not have managed credit well in the past and a lender might be more reluctant to lend to you.

Here are some steps:
- Get a copy of your credit score
- Fix any errors
- Identify any money still owing
- Pay your bills as soon as you receive them
- Use your credit sparingly
